Lincoln Industries and their Journey to a Modern, Sustainable Facility

Modernization Assessment Program by AIMM Services

A modern story with an age-old problem.  Lincoln Industries is a forward-looking company and knows that to compete they need to be automated. To do that, they need to be up-to-date and modernize their equipment and processes.

Here is Lincoln Industries’ Story:

Lincoln Industries is a very forward-looking, growth-oriented company and they realized that to be up to date, you have to be modern, and you have to be willing to take the next leap to beat the competition.

They had a real need to automate because demand keeps increasing. The primary function of their modernization plan is to fit it to their long-term needs.

  • How do they meet that demand?
  • How do they improve quality?
  • How should they look at improving safety in that line?

Lincoln Industries has a 60-year-old facility, and they were aware there had to be obsolescence in their plan but had not identified which of their automation equipment was at risk. They tried to assess the equipment themselves but quickly realized they were going to need help from an outside resource so they could continue to focus on getting product out the door.

We performed the first of a series of assessments for Lincoln Industries recently and they are utilizing that information to drive reliability and maintenance.

Our AIMM Services team (the services delivery arm of the Industrial Solutions Network) had the people to go into their facility and quickly assess their current state. We helped them identify what they need to address immediately, and future steps needed to modernize that they can incorporate into their long-term capital planning.

“It's really been a great thing now that we have the data, and we can monitor our lines in real time.”

“The live database became the thing that was huge because in the beginning of our process, it was going to be a snapshot in time. As we evolve, now it is a living database.”

We are now working with Lincoln Industries to use this data to incorporate it into their custom Modernization Assessment Program that will continue to evolve as they take the steps to modernize, assess other areas of their facility and prepare for the future.

Technology is going to disrupt you. It may disrupt you positively, it might be negative.

We work with our customers to identify what is going to cause downtime, so they are prepared for it. As we look to mitigate those risks, we identify ways we can plug in new technology that can be positively disruptive to improve efficiencies, safety and sustainability.
